Here is the PDF version.
When I was struggling for a subject for an assignment, my instructor gave me a flyer for a research study and asked me to try to improve on it. When I looked at it the TV series "Hoarders" came to mind (even though I haven't ever watched it).
Preparation:
Features
Credits:
- I started with a new Photoshop document with a size of 11 by 8.5 inches and 300dpi because the final product should be printed.
- The original size of the background image that I found is 1024 x 683 which is quite smaller than what I needed for a background image. So I enlarged the image and chose "Preserve Details (enlargement)." The result was very good.
- I set the opacity of the background image to 82%.
Features
- The image fills the width of the flyer so the viewer is part of the room full of stuff.
- With the image filling most of the page, the challenge now was to provide enough contrast for the text.
- The contact information and photo credit at the bottom were easy enough because they are just on white.
- The header has a black stroke of 10px and 30% opaque panel the color of the couch in the left of the image (636259) which help the header stand out. The fill of the header is the cream color edge next to the man's right leg with the opacity set to 80% so that the background image is not completely blocked.
- Moved the description and instructions into one bottom panel to improve readability.
- The description and requirements panel at the bottom of the image for the text has a feather of 30px.
- The intent of the header at the top and the panels on the left and the right are to make the man seem/feel boxed in.
- The bottom of the background image is masked to provide more space for the information in the footer.
- Added my signature.
